Mayors from cities that house military installations gathered to hear from defense industry executives and government officials discuss the potential effects of proposed defense policy changes that will cut the nation’s military. The mayors were concerned about job loss and economic impact from the proposed defense budget cuts and the automatic cuts known as sequestration, scheduled to go into effect in January 2013. This event was part of the U.S. Conference of Mayor’s 80th annual meeting in Orlando in mid-June. close
