Participants focused on the disparity in crack cocaine sentences to powder cocaine sentences, and ways to change the 100 to 1 ratio. Panelists examined some of the consequences of the crack cocaine sentencing disparities including the disparate impact on African Americans. The U.S. Sentencing Commission recommended that crack cocaine sentencing is no more than 20 to 1, but acknowledged that Congress needed to intervene. They also responded to questions from the audience. close
