In a session from the conference, “Television and Foreign Affairs,” the panel examined television coverage of foreign conflicts from the Vietnam War through the Persian Gulf War, focusing on the impact of “real time” television coverage of diplomatic and foreign crises and also on the ability of governments to resist this impact. They covered both sides of issues such as differentiating between conflict prevention and humanitarian relief efforts.
