President Bill Clinton helped launch “City Year: Little Rock” by swearing in 40 members of the nationwide citizen service organization, part of the AmeriCorps network. Central High School was chosen because City Year typically chooses historically significant sites for inauguration ceremonies. Little Rock’s Central High School was the sight of a famous confrontation over school desegregation during the 1950s.
