One of the authors of the “Border Surge Amendment,” Republican Bob Corker (TN), debated the measures with fellow Republican Jeff Sessions (AL), who was against the plan.
The “Border Surge” amendment to the Immigration Bill was announced Friday, June 21, 2013. It would double the number of border agents and the size of the fence on the southern border. It would also add drones and electronic surveillance along the border. Once those measures were in place, then the Homeland Security Department could begin offering provisional green cards to illegal immigrants who meet certain criteria. close
