Professor Padma Desai talked about her book, Conversations on Russia: Reform from Yeltsin to Putin, published by Oxford University Press. She talked about the two men who have led Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union. She discussed the economic and political reforms advanced by Presidents Boris Yeltsin and Vladimir Putin and argued that the record for each is mixed. She also talked about the interviews she conducted for the book and commented on the killing of Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya. After her presentation she responded to audience members' questions.

This C.V. Starr Lecture titled “Russia: Going in the Wrong Direction?” was part of the New York Law School’s Center for International Law series of symposia. close
