The House Education and Labor Committee held a hearing on pending legislation to reduce and more safely manage concussions in student athletes. Witnesses testified that student concussions have resulted in extremely impaired learning abilities and even death. They focused on proposed legislation that would establish national standards for student athletes who get concussions. According to a recent government report, between 2005-2008 about 400,000 student athletes suffered with a concussion, many undiagnosed. close
