The United Nations Security Council allowed representatives of various countries to make statements regarding weapons inspections in Iraq, the situation between Iraq and Kuwait, and the possibility of war between the U.S. and Iraq. Germany held the rotating presidency of the Security Council, so Ambassador Pleuger presided over the proceedings.
