Mayor Marion Barry talked about the rescue package President Clinton signed the previous day which gave control to a federally appointed panel to administer various city functions. He talked about the amount of federal income taxes that residents of the District of Columbia pay and the other responsibilities of citizenship the citizens exhibit. Mayor Berry argued for representation in the House and Senate for the citizens of Washington, DC. Following Mayor Barry’s presentation, members of Blacks in Government took questions from the audience. close
