Authors talked about their books on the history of the civil rights movement. In the year marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, they explored the political and social climate of the 1960s and the struggle for equality. The panel was moderated by Robert McCarthy.

Todd Purdumis the author of An Idea Whose Time Has Come: Two Presidents, Two Parties, and the Battle for the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Juan Williams is the author of Eyes on the Prize: America’s Civil Rights Years, 1954-1965. David L. Chappell is the author of Waking from the Dream: The Struggle for Civil Rights in the Shadow of Martin Luther King, Jr..
