Leaders from throughout the country gathered for an annual forum to discuss the nation’s civic health. Justice Kennedy was presented with the Conference’s Franklin Award for his role in creating the Dialogue on Freedom program in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. The program enabled high school students to discuss American civic values and traditions with judges and lawyers. The conference also featured a keynote address from Mr. Nardelli. He announced a new Corporate Service Campaign, which will seek to mobilize more Americans and is already mobilizing volunteers and private aid to assist Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

The National Conference on Citizenship held the 2005 Annual Conference, which featured leaders who focus their efforts to strengthen citizenship through civics education, public service, and political participation.
