Author Wendell Berry talked about his book, Citizenship Papers, published by Shoemaker and Hoard. The book, composed of nineteen essays, addresses issues the author believes are in conflict with the American democratic tradition. Mr. Berry charges that American culture has legitimized selfishness, wastefulness, and greed. In addition, he calls for an end to what he refers to as the hypocritical waging of war designed to ensure quality of life, freedom, and peace. He also responded to questions from the audience. close
