The House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade heard testimony on Most Favored Nation (MFN) trade status for China. Many members of Congress questioned the president’s intention to extend MFN for an additional year, in light of human rights violations by the Chinese government and the Tienanmen Square Massacre. Trade with China grew fourfold since 1980, to $18 billion annually. close
