Mr. Lieberthal explained his perspective of the U.S.-China relationship. He mentioned that there are tensions on both sides of the relationship and that the Clinton administration’s policy toward China is based on American interests. He commented on the Chinese financial crisis and the situation in North Korea and Taiwan. He stated that an antagonistic relationship with China would not be good for American interests in Asia. close
