The House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Human Resources discussed proposed changes to the nation’s child support enforcement laws and their relation to the current social situation of the United States. They heard testimony about legislation recently introduced by Representatives Henry Hyde (R-IL) and Thomas Downey (D-NY). The bill would make major revisions in child welfare laws and would increase incentives and requirements for families to support their children. close
