Norm Lorentz talked about President-Elect Barack Obama’s promise during the 2008 campaign to appoint a chief technology officer. Mr. Lorentz served as the nation’s first and only chief technology officer (CTO). He was appointed in 2002 by President George W. Bush, but after Mr. Lorentz left the position in 2003 it was eliminated. In a recent op-ed, Mr. Lorentz offered advice to the president-elect on what type of skills and abilities the nation’s next CTO should have.
