Cash for Questions Investigation

|The committee, chaired by Mr. Newton, met to hear testimony on whether the Select Committee on Members Interests had been influenced in its 1994 investigation into allegations against certain members of the House of Commons, including some government ministers. These members were accused of taking money from companies in order to ask certain questions of the government. After its investigation, the Select Committee decided the allegations were false. Mr. Smith was the chair of the committee during the investigation and Mr. Willett supposedly tried to influence his conduct of the investigation. close
