Scholars and government officials from the Carter presidential administration spoke during the opening ceremony at a symposium on the Carter presidency. Stuart Eizenstat, the domestic policy adviser to the Carter administration, discussed the factors coming into play in the enactment of domestic policies by the administration and Congress during the Carter years. He also reflected upon his personal experiences in the Carter White House. Erwin Hargrove, a Professor at Vanderbilt University in the Political Science Department, also discussed the presidential style of President Carter and his leadership ability. close
