John Carlos, winner of the bronze medal in the 200 meters in the 1968 Olympics, recalls the raised-fist Black Power salute he and his teammate, Tommie Smith, gave on the medal podium in Mexico City. Mr. Carlos recounts his symbolic gesture at the Olympics, the subsequent fall-out, and his continued political activism. John Carlos and his co-author, Dave Zirin, also responded to questions from members of the audiene at the Northwest African American Museum in Seattle.
