As part of a C-SPAN and Cox Communications project to encourage dialog between students and national leaders, Vice Admiral James Zortman spoke to high school students about his military career. He focused on leadership in public service and the question of who serves. He also talked about who joins the military and why they do so. He answered questions from the students.

The program began with a video tour of the high school narrated by principal Nancy Peterson. Chelsea Seener introduced Vice Admiral Zortman.

Vice Admiral Zortman is responsible for all U.S. naval aviation programs worldwide, and for manning, training, and equipping all carriers and naval aircraft. He is also commander of the Naval Air Force of the Pacific Fleet, responsible for day-to-day operations of the Pacific Fleet. close
