Cancer treatment experts and advocates urged Congress to provide new support for cancer research. They presented a new initiative called Project Innovation, based on a recently issued white paper Securing the Future of Innovation in Cancer Treatment. They warned that gains in cancer might have reached a plateau at a time when cancerous tumors were evolving and becoming resistant to existing treatments while the U.S. was losing its competitive edge to research in countries such as China and Singapore. Patients had already been affected by fewer drug trials being run in the U.S. Cancer experts and officials were also presented in video messages from the previous month.

This briefing briefing by the Cancer Innovation Coalition, spearheaded by the National Patient Advocate Foundation, was hosted by Representative Scott (D-VA) in the Rayburn House Office Building. close
