The Panama Canal officially came under Panamanian control as a result of the treaty signed during the Carter administration. With the canal custodial transfer also came the need to appraise, schedule and decide ownership of the associated records.

The archivist responsible for records appraisal, the Panama Canal Commission’s transition program planner, and the Panama Canal Authority records officer talked about the events leading to the division of records, records transfer, and plans for the future. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience. close
