The Canadian Supreme Court heard the case Stephen Harper v. Omar Khadr. Omar Khadr in 2002 was picked up in Afghanistan when he was 15 years old and sent to Guantanamo Bay. Mr. Khadr is a Canadian citizen, and his lawyers say his rights were violated, and he should be sent back to Canada.

The Justices heard arguments from lawyers for the Canadian Government, Omar Khadr, as well as several lawyers for “intervener” groups, which are third party interest groups, like the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, and Amnesty International. close
