Witnesses testified before House committee about their concerns of the increase of crime on college campuses and the necessity for the implementation of more accurate criminal reports and crime logs accessible to the public. Ms. Brzonkala was herself a victim of campus crime and testified in support of making college crime reports public. Ms. Jakobsen was the first complainant under the Campus Security Act. Others joined in testifying in support of requiring more open records in order to protect the students of our many Universities.
