A luncheon discussion was held about how the 2008 presidential nomination campaigns have been different from past political races. Topics included the historic levels of citizen participation, unprecedented amounts of money raised, the diverse field of presidential candidates, the use of new technologies, the importance of the “Super Delegates,” and the increased activities of groups such as women, young voters, African-Americans, and Hispanics.

Joe Trippi was the chief strategist with John Edward’s 2008 presidential campaign and managed Howard Dean’s 2004 campaign. Peter Leyden moderated.
