President George H. W. Bush spoke to an enthusiastic crowd from the back of his campaign train during a stop on his two-day whistle-stop tour of the South. After an introduction from the governor of North Carolina, the president criticized his opponent Gov. Bill Clinton’s leadership in Arkansas and Clinton’s proposals for health care reform and education. Following his prepared remarks, the president was presented with two scale models of Thomasville’s landmark, the world’s largest chair. close
