Gertrude Himmelfarb spoke about her book, Reflections on Edmund Burke’s “Reflections on the Revolution in France.” In the book she talks about influence of the Irish political philosopher Edmund Burke and his book Reflections on the Revolution in France. Burke, who died in 1797, served in the British Parliament and became a leading figure in the conservative movement both abroad and in the United States. Following her remarks, Professor Himmelfarb responded to audience members' questions.

Gertrude Himmelfarb is the author of many books, including On Looking into the Abyss: Untimely Thoughts on Culture and Society and The Moral Imagination: From Edmund Burke to Lionel Trilling. She was awarded the National Humanities Medal in 2004. close
