Elizabeth Warren appeared at a House oversight hearing on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s priorities in regulating consumer credit. In her testimony she said she believed President Obama would nominate a director for the bureau soon, and added that if it had been operational years ago, “We wouldn’t be in the mess we’re currently in.” Some members of the committee expressed concern with the bureau’s level of accountability to Congress. close
