Republican presidential candidate Patrick Buchanan spoke on multiculturalism in an address to an audience at Duke University. The speech was delivered one week before the North Carolina presidential primary. In his remarks, Mr. Buchanan disparaged the phenomenon of multiculturalism on the nation’s college campuses, which he claimed was usurping America’s natural culture. He also assailed modern art, claiming there is a religious war going on for the soul of America which is the conservatives' battle to win. Mr. Buchanan’s speech was delayed several times by catcalls from members of the audience. close
