Pat Buchanan announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States. He began his campaign in New Hampshire, which would hold the first presidential primary in 1992. He was challenging President George H.W. Bush directly, accusing the President of deserting the conservative principles on which he ran in 1988. Mr. Buchanan was a syndicated columnist, whose career included his role as a co-host on CNN’s “Crossfire” and panelist on the "McLaughlin Group", among other television programs. Mr. Buchanan worked in the Richard Nixon administration as a speech writer, and under President Ronald Reagan as Director of Communications. close
