Mr. Buchanan announced that he would seek the Republican nomination for president. In his announcement he called for a moratorium on immigration, restrictions on imports, bans on abortion and euthanasia, and a war on a “polluted and poisoned culture.” This is Mr. Buchanan’s third attempt to gain the nomination.
