Senator Tom Coburn talked about his book, Breach of Trust: How Washington Turns Outsiders into Insiders, published by Nelson Current. In the book, Sen. Coburn discussed his disdain for career politicians. The author wrote the book in 2003 after he left the House of Representatives in 2001 but before his return to politics as the Republican Senator of Oklahoma in 2004. Senator Coburn stressed the importance of being as effective as possible in as short an amount of time as possible. The book also covers how some politicians are more concerned with personal perks and power than with government reform. Following his remarks, Senator Coburn responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.
