A ceremony was held to award the winners of the National Collegiate Book Collecting Contest. The annual contest recognizes "outstanding book collecting efforts by college and university students" and "aims to encourages young collectors to become accomplished bibliophiles." The 2010 winners were: Andrew Fink, University of Puget Sound, first prize recipient for "An Interdisciplinary Survey of 20th Century Propaganda;" Ryan Julian, University of Chicago, second prize recipient for "The History of Mathematics;" Philipp Penka, Harvard University, third prize recipient for "Temporary Spiritual Sustenance: The Print Culture of Russian Displaced Persons in Postwar Germany (1945-1951);" and Bailey Pike, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, essay prize recipient for "The Mythology of Mozart." The ceremony also included an illustrated talk by author and book collector, Carol Fitzgerald, who discussed "Collecting Mid-Twentieth-Century Regional Americana." The contest was sponsored by The Center for the Book and the Rare Book and Special Collections Division of the Library of Congress, the Fellowship of American Bibliophilic Societies, and the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America. The awards ceremony took place at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
