Librarian Nancy Pearl received the 2004 Women’s National Book Association award for extraordinary contributions to the world of books, and she spoke about her love of books and reading. Ms. Pearl, the 50th recipient of the bi-annual WNBA award, is an author, librarian, book reviewer, radio talk show personality, and the former director of youth services for Washington State’s Center of the Book at the Seattle Public Library. She is the author of Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment, and Reason and More Book Lust, and the creator of “If All of Seattle Read the Same Book,” a program that has been adopted by cities throughout the country. The award was presented at a reception at the Library of Congress co-sponsored by the Center for the Book. close
