Scott Martelle read from his book, Blood Passion: The Ludlow Massacre and Class War in the American West. He described the history of the Ludlow Massacre of April 1914 in which striking miners and their union supporters fought local militiamen across 200 miles of Southern Colorado. He said that over thirty people were killed and the battle did not end until President Woodrow Wilson sent in the U.S. Army. After his presentation the author responded to audience members' questions.
