Project 21 Director David Almasi talked about black conservatives' views of the NAACP, politics, and issues important to blacks. Project 21 was an organization described as a national leadership network of conservative African Americans. The group was organized by The National Center for Public Policy Research. Both NAACP President Kweisi Mfume and Chairman Julian Bond criticized President Bush for not speaking at the NAACP convention in Philadelphia during their annual meeting. Mr. Mfume also criticized conservative black organizations, saying they are usually formed and funded by whites and that they “won’t work” in undercutting the NAACP. He also responded to telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail from viewers. close
