Former Senator Charles Mathias defined the importance of liberalism in America. He argued that liberalism allows for freedom of opinion and democracy. Charles Mathias concluded by listing four things necessary to make liberalism stronger in America: a more responsive government, more compassion for the welfare of our fellow citizens, more open-mindedness in the pursuit of education, and, most importantly, more people to declare openly that they are liberals. These will reverse the slow abolishment of liberalism in America. close
