Mike Lampton discussed his book Same Bed Different Dreams: Managing U.S.-China Relations, 1989-2000, published by the University of California Press. Mr. Lampton addressed the history of the major events in Sino-American relations. He argues that instead of viewing China as either a friend or enemy we should frame the relationship in terms of problems and opportunities. Among other issues, he discusses the efficacy of economic sanctions as an instrument for improving human rights in China. After his presentation, Mr. Lampton answered questions from members of the audience. close
