Joel Garreau talked about his book Radical Evolution: The Promise and Peril of Enhancing Our Minds, Our Bodies -- and What It Means to Be Human, published by Doubleday. He looks closely at scientific efforts to enhance human capability through technology and our increasing understanding of the genome. Mr. Garreau writes that the increasing rate at which scientists are identifying genome components could result in longer lifespans for humans, less disease, and stronger bodies, among other breakthroughs. Using data culled from scientific research, the author creates three different scenarios of the world’s future. He talked about how human beings might change and how that would change society or how society might regulate change. He responded to questions from members of the audience. close
