Mr. Dash discussed his latest book, Batavia's Graveyard: The True Story of the Mad Heretic Who Led History's Bloodiest Mutiny, published by Crown. The Batavia was a ship for the Dutch East India Company that set sail from the Netherlands in 1628 bound for Java, but never reached its destination. Aboard the Batavia, Jeronimus Corneliszoon led a mutiny, interrupted when the ship ran aground off the coast of Australia. The shipwrecked sailors were trapped on a coral island without water, food, or shelter, and some set off for help while a battle waged between the shipwrecked sailors and the shipwrecked mutineers. After the presentation the author answered questions from members of the audience.
