Oral arguments were heard in the federal appeals court case of Bank of America v. City of Santa Monica. The case questions whether a city ordinance can limit ATM fees charged by banks. The cities of Santa Monica and San Francisco lost in the lower court and are appealing the summary judgment for the Bank of America and two other banks that were granted relief against the cities' ordinances preventing the bank from levying ATM surcharges.
