U.S. Naval Academy professor Aaron O’Connell talked about the history of U.S. Marine Corps military engagements in the Caribbean, from the period following the Spanish-American War in the late 1890s into the 1930s. These military actions are known as “The Banana Wars.” Professor O’Connell spoke about the strategic and economic reasons for American military involvement in that region, and compared the leadership styles of three presidents during this era. close
