Stasys Lozoraitis, Charge of D’Affaires Legation of Lithuania, discussed the recent events in Lithuania, which was occupied by Soviet forces over the previous weekend in a violent crackdown on the independence movement in the Baltic states. Mr. Lozoraitus criticized the Soviets' use of violence against the democracy movement in Lithuania and the violence against the Lithuanian draft-dodgers. He also mentioned a rumor that the use of alcohol and drugs in the Soviet army is a policy of the Soviet forces in order to make their army at once more aggressive and less aware of their actions. close
