In a portion from the CBS “Evening News” broadcast anchor Dan Rather apologized for a report on “60 Minutes” in which fraudulent documents were used on a story about President Bush’s National Guard service in the early 1970s. The network had originally stood by the report and the validity of the documents. Following further investigations the source of the documents admitted to their nature. close
