In this interview recorded in his Maryland home, Barrett McGurn reviewed his writing and journalism career. Mr. McGurn served 14 months as a combat correspondent for the WWII army weekly magazine, Yank. Mr. McGurn has published a total of six books, the first in 1958. As a foreign correspondent between 1946 and 1966, Barrett McGurn covered eight wars and was stationed in Rome, Moscow, and Paris

Mr. McGurn, the first public information officer of the United States Supreme Court, spoke about his impressions of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. He discussed her role on the court and his experiences with her. Justice O’Connor had announced her retirement the previous Friday.

Barrett McGurn is the author of America’s Court: The Supreme Court and the People, published in 1997 by Fulcrum Publishing and Yank, The Army Weekly: Reporting the Greatest Generation, published in 2004 by Fulcrum Publishing.
