Participants at the Junior League of Richmond’s 55th annual “Book and Author Dinner” talked about their work and lives as authors, and their love of the printed word. They disagreed with the notion that the Internet and satellite television will eliminate the need and desire for books. Mr. Rutherford spoke about his novel The Forest. Mr. Varni talked about his first book, The Inland Sea, and his experiences in getting it published. Ms. Medwed described her career as a writer, and her most recent book Host Family, published by Warner Books. Mr. King spoke about Patrick O’Brian: A Life Revealed, his recent book which was published by Henry Holt. Mr. Novak spoke about his experiences in journalism, television, and writing the book Completing the Revolution. Paul Duke was the master of ceremonies. close
