Arizona State of the State Address

Governor Jan Brewer gave her annual state of the state address at the State Capitol. She announced the abolishment of the state’s Child Protective Services department by executive order, which was to be replaced by a new division to address child safety and family services. The action came in response to an investigation that revealed thousands of reports alleging child abuse or neglect that were never investigated. She also discussed other initiatives involving business incentives to create jobs, educational incentives for students and schools and strengthening laws to combat human trafficking.
