The Astronauts Memorial Foundation held a ceremony to honor the crew of Apollo 1 on the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 1 accident. Family members and others praised the astronauts' sacrifice and talked about the risk of exploration. All family members present were introduced.

Astronauts Virgil Grissom, Edward White, and Roger Chaffee died when a fire swept through the command module of Apollo 1 during a pre-flight test on January 27, 1967. The ceremony was held at the Space Mirror Memorial at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. close
