Speakers outlined the cost of the conflict in Iraq in both human and economic terms. They also contrasted the price of war with the price of relief efforts for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (A.N.S.W.E.R.) Coalition and other groups sponsored a rally to "End the War in Iraq and Bring the Troops Home Now." As part of the rally, many attendees marched past the White House to demonstrate against the conflict in Iraq. The crowd was estimated to be between 150,000 and 300,000 by organizers and local officials.
