President Obama spoke at the Abraham Lincoln Association’s 102nd annual birthday banquet on the occasion of President Lincoln’s 200th birthday. In his remarks he spoke about President Lincoln’s legacy and understanding of the concept of the American Union. Though lighthearted at times, Mr. Obama also emphasized the need for immediate action on his stimulus plan, and insisted that government intervention is necessary to reverse the economic decline. close
